CPOINT® Open Source PC Software
Written in Visual Basic6, VB6, 2004 - 2018
OpenDMXUSB, initiated by ENTTEC www.enttec.com, is an open hardware design with a GPL License with the following additions:
- Any modification to the software must be given back to the community.
- You cannot remove or modify any copyright notice.
The concept of the USB to DMX512 interface, was called openDMXUSB, now also called the open dmx usb interface, and it was initially based on FTDI's USB to serial chip called FT232BM. Now, 2018, the FTDI's chip named FT232RL is used.

CPOINT® OfficeWing is an open source Visual Basic software using the openDMXUSB hardware interface as its DMX512 output.
CPOINT® OfficeWing was designed for use in a small office or other places where a couple of channels was wanted to be controlled by a PC running on Windows.
By clicking on the OfficeWing icon in the lower corner tray of your screen, you can quickly change the current preset or edit your own presets and set the dim time.
How to install CPOINT® OfficeWing,
1. Download Microsoft VB6sp6 run-time files
Find the driver on FTDI's site. Select the driver for your system, Windows 32-bit or 64-bit.
2. Download OpenDMXUSB D2XX driver for Windows
Note: The OfficeWing.zip file should be safely downloaded from this link. Beware that versions from other sites not affiliated with CPOINT® could be compromised.
4. Read the OfficeWing.txt file in the zip file on how to install OfficeWing1.4, explained step by step in detail.

NEWS 2018! OfficeWing Version 1.4
Now support for command line parameters. Making it possible to easily change to any Preset from another software.
Example for officewing1.4.exe:
dims from the current Preset to Preset 3
dims from Preset 3 to Preset 6.
This can be simplified by using officewing1.bat, officewing2.bat files etc and Windows Shortcuts to call the officewing bat files.
Programming the FTDI232RL internal configuration EEPROM
The EEPROM is the configuration memory for the FT232RL chip.
You can program the EEPROM via the USB port with a utility software from FTDI called FT_Prog.
The FT_Prog installer file is available here.
For general info about FT_Prog, go to:
FTDI's FT_Prog site.
(Not needed anymore, maybe for XP users: You might need the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 installed on your system to run FT_Prog.
Download Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. )
Run FT_Prog and configure the EEPROM.
Below is a link to the open DMXUSB EEPROM template file, program this setting into the EEPROM memory of the FT232RL.
openDMXUSB EEPROM template.
Unzip and load it into the FT_Prog software to program the EEPROM.
Note that the 'Load D2XX drivers' must be selected in the FT_Prog settings, or the interface will become a serial device only, and it will not work.
Using different serial numbers for several devices will allow you to use several interfaces in some PC control software.
